As you prepare for your new baby, you're looking for new decorating ideas, right? How to make the nursery look super cute without spending your life savings on it? You want your baby to have the best, but how do you do that while living on a budget? Well, the good news is that with a little bit of guidance, you can decorate your nursery to be just as cute as the ones you see in magazines. And, you can be admired by your friends for doing it so creatively that you didn't spend a million dollars to do it.

As you know, babies grow super fast (ever hear people say "Oh my gosh, your baby is getting so big!"). As a result, they are going to outgrow stuff pretty quick. So, don't feel the pressure to spend 6 months worth of pay for your nursery decor. Think hand-me-downs. Friends, neighbors or relatives with children a few months older than yours are perfect candidates to ask for gently used baby nursery decorations. The designs will still be current and chances are those parents are looking for a place to store all those unused items. You might also ask to borrow an item, such as a crib, from a parent who has a child a few years older. They will certainly be grateful for a place to keep it for a few years, or until they have need of it again, without getting permanently rid of it.

Buying baby nursery decorations used is another option for specific items you cannot obtain from borrowing or if you have no one to borrow from. Garage sales, thrift stores and flea markets are great places to search. You can find quality at an affordable price at these places. And, you can even have the fun of trying to talk them down a bit further. Remember, since baby items are used for such a short period of time, many items will be near-new anyway. Also, be sure to think: "What will I want for my own convenience in the nursery?": a chest of drawers, a rocking chair. You can always repaint a product to match your space, granted that the piece is stable and will last.

While cost is important to consider with baby nursery decoration purchases, the highest priority should always be safety. The pieces that must be researched and compared are cribs, strollers, high chairs and car seats. It should not matter whether you are borrowing, buying used, or buying new. Current safety regulations are absolutely essential to know about each of these products you get. Before you get something that is a great deal at a flea market or yard sale, be sure to consider the safety aspect of the product. Buying older items might be out of date an no longer meet safety regulations. And, no matter how good a deal, safety is still the number one concern.
