The answer to this question is a most definite yes!
Your resource box is at least as important as the article it accompanies and should be constructed with as much care.

Lets look at what a resource box is, first and foremost it is your opportunity to place your link on the many sites that hopefully pick up your article.

By placing your key word anchor text in your box and linking it to your site you are increasing the number of back links for your site and increasing the key word relevance as well.

You can find a very good free key word tool at http://www.keywordtool.imbuzzcreators.com/viral/
this tool works brilliantly and there is no need to upgrade for it to function.
When you enter your master key word, the system will search for related key words and then you can have it check the search engines to find the number of searches for a given word and the number of results found. In this way you are able to find words and phrases that are searched but have a small number of results.

After your anchor text, I suggest that you include a short one or two sentence description of your offer, try to cover all the benefits, and concluding with a call to action.
If your site is a blog, you might Start your box with something like “John Brown regularly writes on the subject of... and to see more of his articles visit...”

If you are promoting a site you could begin,
“Your-Website-Name (explain what it has)…” or
“Your-Website-Name (explain what is about)…”

The second function of your resource box is your by line, it is surprising the number of authors who take the trouble to research and write an article and then forget to ad their by line. If your reader doesn't know who wrote the piece how can you earn credit for it?

The last function, of your resources box is to collect the name and address of your reader, the easiest way of doing this is to offer them something of real value, for example a free report or a free gift that they must sign up to download.
If you vary the layout and wording of your box you will help to make each article a unique item.
What you should not include in your resource box
A list of all your websites, this is because many article directories will automatically convert any url in to a link, and if your box is stuffed with links particularly if they are not relevant to the article, your article is likely to be rejected as Spam.
A list of all your achievements, frankly only you and your mum care!
Any advertising that is not relevant to the article.
Finally keep the size of the box to an absolute minimum, any more that 20% of the size of the article and you will be seen as taking advantage.

Consider that the body of the article is where you share your knowledge. The resource box is where you get your repayment for your effort, Remember to always, include your name, website address, your brief unique selling proposition, and a single, simple call to action

So what would be a good content for your resource box? Basically it is keywords, learning about the proper keywords that people are
mainly searching for. There are many tools you can find in the Internet that can help you in determining what keywords to use.

Resource boxes can also make use of all the creativity it can get. You only get a small space for your resource box so you better
make the most of it. Try to catch the attention of your reader with resource box content that can make them give a second look.
Unlike TV ads, you don’t have visual aids to drive your point in.
But you do have the power of imagination of a reader. With the right content, you can make them think and intrigued.

Another tip is to use keywords that should be related to your site. Do not mislead your potential website visitors.
Build your credibility so that more people would get enticed to visit your site and browse what you have to offer.
Make the people click your resource box by providing resource box content that makes a lasting impression.
You only get one chance to wow them and hundreds of chances to repulse them.

Never underestimate the power of the resource box. It may be small in size but they will provide a significant aid in driving traffic to your site. A boring resource box will never get a job done. Be fun and creative but at the same time show that you have a great deal to offer, too much to ask for something that couldn’t fit a paragraph? Yes and no, there are many tips and guides that can help you in doing this, the first step is realizing how important a resource box could be in making people click your link and be directed to your site.

Author resource boxes are the backbones of your article marketing efforts. Without them you won’t get the link, traffic and page rank benefits.

In order to create a widely accepted author resource box you can follow these guidelines:

Your First word(s) should point to the author or website you want to promote. If you are promoting a personal blog/site/etc. you may start writing the resource box as follows:

‘John Doe is an expert..’
‘John Doe specializes in..’
‘John Doe is a regular contributor of..’

If you are promoting a website you may start the resource box as by mentioning the name of your website and then explain what your website is about. For example:

“Your-Website-Name (explain what it has)…”
“Your-Website-Name (explain what is about)…”

As you can see the box starts with the use of a noun followed by a adjective or description. I also wrote the name of the site without including the ‘www’ part because we want the reader to know we are talking about a site. If I started the resource box using the site name but with the words separated by spaces such as ‘DP Article Submission’, it would be hard for the reader to know we are talking about a resource. Notice that I also capitalized the first letter of each word in the site name.

The rest of the box should continue describing what your site is all about, this is the part of the resource box where you want to place the anchor texts and links.

The last part should invite the reader to visit your site. It should include a call to action or words which will attract the reader.

Link Placement, URL and anchor text selection

Once you figure how to properly create an author resource box you then you need to determine the anchor texts and then link them to pages within your site. All links should be inserted in the resource box, placing an HTML hyper-link within the article body will cause rejection from many directories.

Always remember that the maximum amount of links allowed in author resource boxes is 3. If you place 3 anchor texts linked to your website, and at the end of the resource box you enter your website URL, the submission will get rejected because the last URL is converted in to a Hyper-Link automatically by many article sites, so its good to keep 2 anchor texts linked to your website and 1 URL at the end of the resource box which will complete the 3 links allowed per article.

In reality there are several ways to create an author resource box and it is important to constantly test several styles to see which one gives you the best results.

Article Marketing: Article Writer Discovers How-To Increase Traffic To Website
When creating your articles, you can make yours sell with a great RESOURCE BOX. The resource box is the author bio below the body of your article and is called a signature, or SIG, for short. Having a great Resource Box will increase your website traffic exponentially. It is like the P.S. at the end of ad copy and should never be overlooked or shortchanged.

What Goes Into Your Resource Box:
Make sure your resource box includes the following:

- Your Name

Many individuals forget to place their name in the resource box; however, you should include your name and a title as the first items of your resource box.

- Your Website Address

Always include a valid URL, such as http://MY-BUSINESS.com/
Your USP or Unique Selling Proposition
This is a one to three sentence summary of what makes you and your offer so special and hard to resist. It is also known as your elevator pitch.
A Call To Action
Not Arms, Just Action
Since you already have your viewers interest, now is the time to ask for a sale. Lead them to visit your website so they can buy your products or services. Only one call to action is necessary.
Optional items you may include in your resource box:
1. Your Ezine Subscription Address

Potential clients surfing your website is good, however, you can begin the trust/confidence process with them by capturing their email address. Just keep in mind when using this strategy, that you provide a URL for your ezine subscription, rather than using an email address for joining your ezine.

2. Your Contact Information

This may include such information as your business telephone number, instructions on how to reach you for consultations or your media/press kit. Remember, since article marketing is an unchanging approach, that you may not be able to easily retract the items in your article after it hits public circulation.

3. A Free Report

A free bonus report may enhance your credibility as an expert in the field of your article, or it can be part of your call to action offering.

4. Your Email Autoresponder

You should be aware that spammers can text-extract your autoresponder email address and include it in their list for spamming. Autoresponders, worked well in the 1990s, however, they have perhaps seen their better days.

5. An anchor URL

This URL relates to one keyword or keyword phrase, that you will use to build strength in SEO. For instance, if you want to build SEO strength for the keywords, Article Marketing, you will link that term in your resource box to your website. Keep in mind however, that this is an intermediate to advanced level strategy and it should never be overused. Try to keep it simple.
Items that should not be included in your resource box:
1. Do not list every website you possess.

This will decrease your credibility, especially if they have nothing in common. Post only one URL that is relevant to the article topic.

2. Listing all your achievements

Seriously, no one cares. Your resource box should be short and to the point. Keep in mind that your resource box should benefit your reader, not stroke your ego.

3. Advertisements

Do not include unrelated product pitches, when they do not relate to the article topic.
Sizing the Resource Box
Bigger Is Not Always Better
The size of your resource box should be no bigger that twenty percent of the total size of your article. Anything over that is abusive and over done.
